Dubai Taxi launches ‘Saver Driver’ program

The step aims at raising health awareness among employees

The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently launched the Saver Driver program in collaboration with Al Hilal Private Nursing & Medical Services Company with the aim of raising the medical awareness of cabdrivers about first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  Marwan Othman, Director of DTC Fleet Drivers Affairs, said: “In the context of DTC’s strategy to raise the awareness and enrich the culture of taxi drivers towards empowering them to deliver excellent services, the DTC’s Drivers Training & Qualification Center, in collaboration with Al Hilal Private Nursing & Medical Services Company, has introduced a year-long comprehensive health program including a number of lectures, awareness workshops, as well as practical and theoretical trainings for cabbies and employees to educate them about the principles of first aid in various circumstances including poisoning, burns, wounds, bleeding and cardiac resuscitation.
The Drivers Training & Qualification Center has concluded the first training sessions last August covering more than 500 drivers who were familiarized with various first aid principles. These awareness workshops were held on daily basis from 8.00 am up to 2.00 pm, and participants from DTC drivers were awarded participation certificates. 
“The DTC seeks to provide all tools and services to employees in general and drivers in particular in order to achieve the highest service standards in keeping with the vision of the RTA calling for providing Safe and Smooth Transport for All, and the vision of the DTC aimed at Pioneers in Passenger Transport Services. The program also seeks to improve the business process of the RTA and the DTC, and raise DTC’s profile in the community,” continued Othman.
Atta Allah Mohammed Habeeb, Director of Operations, Al Hilal Private Nursing & Medical Services Company, said: “We are excited to renew cooperation with the DTC through the launch of this medical awareness program targeting drivers with the aim of raising their health awareness and education about the principles of first aid. The programs also highlights procedures ought to be adopted at various times at homes or during traffic accidents, and how to handle various types of injuries, wounds and burns as well as poisoning, bleeding, trauma, and cardiac resuscitation sustained by various individuals, be it juniors or seniors. 
“The company is committed to provide all printing materials, educational tools and real-life models for these workshops to ensure the delivering and communicating of correct messages and maximize the benefit from this health program. We look forward for more cooperation and coordination with the Dubai Taxi Corporation in holding these programs and awareness & health workshops in the near future,” added Atta Allah.​
